MINOR SOFTBALL

The first week on the schedule is set aside for evaluations. Players are divided into groups and run through some basic softball skills such as throwing, catching, and hitting. Each player is rated. Then two members of our board who were not involved in the ratings, look at the results and make up the teams. They will try to balance the teams so that each has its share of potentially stronger and weaker players. They will also try to ensure that each team has adequate pitching.

Since we play our games on diamonds at the same park, car-pooling with friends is not an issue. Therefore we don't automatically let friends play on the same team. We will allow siblings to play together.

Once the teams are made, our convenors may still make adjustments. It is in everybody's interests that the teams are competitive. We hope that by week 4, team rosters will be frozen.
